چکیده

Testing for Granger non-causality over varying quantile levels could be used to measure and infer dynamic linkages, enabling the identification of quantiles for which causality is relevant, or not. However, dynamic quantiles in financial application settings are clearly affected by heteroscedasticity, as well as the exogenous and endogenous variables under consideration. GARCH-type dynamics are added to the standard quantile regression model, so as to more robustly examine quantile causal relations between dynamic variables. An adaptive Bayesian Markov chain Monte Carlo scheme, exploiting the link between quantile regression and the skewed-Laplace distribution, is designed for estimation and inference of the quantile causal relations, simultaneously estimating and accounting for heteroscedasticity. Dynamic quantile linkages for the international stock markets in Taiwan and Hong Kong are considered over a range of quantile levels.

Inference on Quantile Regression for Heteroscedastic Mixed Models

This paper develops two weighted quantile rank score tests for the significance of fixed effects in a class of mixed models with nonhomogeneous groups. One test is constructed by weighting the residuals to account for heteroscedasticity, while the other test is based on asymptotically optimal weights accounting for both heteroscedasticity and correlation. Without appropriate weights to account ...

On Heteroscedasticity in Robust Regression

This work studies the phenomenon of heteroscedasticity and its consequences for various methods of linear regression, including the least squares, least weighted squares and regression quantiles. We focus on hypothesis tests for these regression methods. The new approach consists in deriving asymptotic heteroscedasticity tests for robust regression, which are asymptotically equivalent to standa...

Diverse Effects of Consumer Credit on Household Carbon Emissions at Quantiles: Evidence from Urban China

This paper surveys the diverse effects of consumer credit on household carbon emissions (HCEs) based on consumption patterns revealed by urban Chinese survey data. Based on the foundation of existing literature, consumption patterns and influential factors are carefully chosen to build empirical models that apply Heteroscedasticity-consistent covariance matrix estimation and quantile regression...

A Validation Test Naive Bayesian Classification Algorithm and Probit Regression as Prediction Models for Managerial Overconfidence in Iran's Capital Market

Corporate directors are influenced by overconfidence, which is one of the personality traits of individuals; it may take irrational decisions that will have a significant impact on the company's performance in the long run. The purpose of this paper is to validate and compare the Naive Bayesian Classification algorithm and probit regression in the prediction of Management's overconfident at pre...

Firm Specific Risk and Return: Quantile Regression Application

The present study aims at investigating the relationship between firm specific risk and stock return using cross-sectional quantile regression. In order to study the power of firm specific risk in explaining cross-sectional return, a combination of Fama-Macbeth (1973) model and quantile regression is used. To this aim, a sample of 270 firms listed in Tehran Stock Exchange during 1999-2010 was i...
